"I saw this as an opportunity to bring different stakeholders in the energy ecosystem together, to understand their interests and motivations and to try and build consensus on mutually agreeable solutions." |
Session Chair: Paritosh Birla, T'13How did you get interested in clean energy and what is your involvement in the industry?
Having no experience in energy before Tuck, I was a complete outsider to the industry. I held a ‘simplistic’ view that clean energy was unambiguously better than traditional sources and that delay in mass adoption was merely a reflection of vested interests. This belief led me to work on a Tuck First Year Project that was aimed at commercializing wind energy for end-users. The experience not only provided a more objective insight into the challenges facing clean energy, but importantly, got me interested in understanding creative solutions that enable wider adoption of the same. What motivated you to organize your specific session for Business and Society Conference? For me, the Tuck Business and Society Conference is a hands-on approach to exploring solutions that lie at the intersection of business and society. I saw this as an opportunity to bring different stakeholders in the energy ecosystem together, to understand their interests and motivations and to try and build consensus on mutually agreeable solutions. That this panel is a ‘brainstorming session’ to understand and solve live issue facing a wind energy project is the biggest motivator for me, and hopefully for classmates, looking to get a better perspective on this topic. |
